Gambooge, a native fruit of Indonesia is also called as garcinia cambogia, brindleberry kudampuli and Malabar tamarind. Its scientific name is Garcinia gummi-gutta. It is a tropical species. Moist forests are suitable for gambooge to thrive in. it is added to bring typical sour taste in traditional recipes in some parts of South Asian Countries. It is used in traditional medicine to treat people suffered from asthma, clotting disorders and diabetes. It looks like a small pumpkin.
The fruits we collect from the forest is sun dried for some days till it changed into a shriveled stage. After the drying up process, Gambooge reach the market.
